The Psychology of Trauma and its Effects on Officer Decision-Making

Part of the Accountability and Transparency in Law Enforcement: After Action Review conference

This session explores the psychology of trauma, how cumulative trauma affects officer decision-making, and how various types of community interactions influence the mental health of officers.  The experts will discuss a range of challenging topics, from individual circumstances to cultural issues, including handling incidents involving the mentally ill and cultural issues such as the effects of systemic racism.  A focus will be placed on critical incidents and use of force.
